Tseng College at California State University, Northridge manages the International Programs & Partnerships (IPP) division, which brings international students to the CSUN campus in Northridge, California, in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. IPP programs include the Semester at CSUN program for undergraduate credit, the Intensive English Program (IEP), Summer at CSUN, and customized short programs for groups and institutions. All IPP programs are approved by the Student Exchange Visitor Program and issue F-1 student visas and Form I-20.
USH offers homestay accommodation for international students enrolled in Tseng College's International Programs & Partnerships at CSUN. Everything is included in one flat monthly rate — your furnished room, Wi-Fi, utilities, and an English-speaking American host family. No lease to sign. No credit history needed. No furniture to buy. Just arrive and settle in.
The CSUN campus is large and welcoming, but Northridge itself is a residential neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley — quiet, suburban, and easy to navigate on foot or by bike from most local host family homes. Many students find that homestay provides something on-campus dormitory life cannot: direct, daily experience of ordinary American family life, which builds both language confidence and cultural understanding far faster than living in a student-only environment.
Short-term stays of 4 weeks and longer semester stays are both available, whether you are enrolling in a single session or a full academic year. Airport pickup is available upon request.
Yes. USH places international students enrolled in Tseng College's IPP programs — including the Semester at CSUN, the Intensive English Program, and Summer at CSUN — with verified American host families in the Northridge area. We handle the matching, the logistics, and the paperwork so you can focus on your studies from the day you arrive.
Yes. On-campus IPP housing is one option, but many students choose homestay instead. Homestay places you in a real American home in the Northridge neighborhood, with meals and utilities included in one flat rate, and no mandatory meal plan requirement. It's a common choice for students who want more cultural immersion and a quieter living environment than a dormitory provides.
Yes. If your institution is sending a group of students through CSUN's IPP, our group accommodations office can arrange placements for multiple students with host families in the Northridge and San Fernando Valley area. Contact our group office with your program dates and student count.
The minimum stay is 4 weeks. We offer both short-term stays for summer and intensive programs and longer stays for semester and full-year students. We work around your IPP program schedule and can adjust your end date as your enrollment evolves.
