Latest SEVIS by the Numbers Report on International Students

SEVIS by the Numbers is a quarterly report using data from the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), which SEVP uses to track and monitor the status and activities of nonimmigrant students and exchange visitors who enter the United States.

Some of the data highlighted since the January report includes:

  • There are currently 1,015,178 F and M students in the United States, an increase of two percent.
  • There are 8,930 SEVP-certified schools, a slight rise from January.
  • Of all students, 75% are from Asian nations and 29% are from China.
  • There was an increase of eight percent in students from India.
  • Asian students accounted for 75% of all students studying science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
  • 35% of students from Africa are studying STEM.
