The American Language and Culture Program (ALCP) at California State University, Dominguez Hills is an intensive English program located in Carson, California, in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. ALCP offers Intensive English instruction, TOEFL and IELTS preparation, and a conditional admissions pathway to CSUDH degree programs for international students who need to build their English proficiency before beginning university coursework. The program issues F-1 student visas and I-20 documents directly through ALCP.
USH offers homestay accommodation for international students enrolled in the ALCP at CSUDH. Everything is included in one flat monthly rate — your furnished room, Wi-Fi, utilities, and an English-speaking American host family. No lease to sign. No credit history needed. No furniture to buy. Just arrive and settle in.
For ALCP students, living with an American host family directly supports what you are studying. Every conversation at the dinner table, every errand, every evening at home is a chance to practice the natural, everyday English that classroom instruction alone cannot fully replicate. Students consistently find that homestay accelerates their progress in ways that living alone or in a shared apartment simply cannot.
Short-term stays of 4 weeks and longer multi-month stays are both available, whether you are completing one session or staying through a full conditional admissions pathway. Airport pickup is available upon request.
Yes. USH places international students in the American Language and Culture Program at CSUDH with verified American host families in the Los Angeles South Bay area. We handle the matching, the paperwork, and the logistics so you can focus on your English studies from day one.
CSUDH's on-campus housing is reserved for enrolled degree-seeking students. As an ALCP/IEP student, you are not eligible for university dormitories. Homestay gives you a fully furnished room with meals and utilities included, flexible stay lengths that match your program schedule, and — uniquely for language students — daily immersion in natural spoken English with an American family.
Yes. If your institution is sending a group of students to the ALCP at CSUDH, our group accommodations office can arrange placements for multiple students with host families in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. Contact our group office with your program dates and student count.
The minimum stay is 4 weeks. Many ALCP students stay for the full duration of their program — from a single session through the complete conditional admissions pathway. We work around your program schedule and can adjust your end date as your studies progress.
