Los Angeles Southwest College (LASC) is a public community college located in South Los Angeles, part of the Los Angeles Community College District. The college welcomes international students from around the world to pursue associate degrees, certificates, and transfer pathways to four-year universities. LASC's International Student Program supports F-1 visa students through I-20 processing, immigration advising, academic counseling, and student services throughout their time at the college.
Universal Student Housing and HomestayMatch place international students with verified American host families in residential neighborhoods near the LASC campus in South Los Angeles. Every host home is personally inspected by our staff before placement and must meet our quality standards. Your homestay includes a private furnished bedroom, meals, and all utilities — everything you need from your first day in the US.
There are no lease agreements to sign and no furniture to buy. Your host family lives in the local community and can help you find your way around the area, navigate public transit, and get to campus. For international students arriving in Los Angeles for the first time, that local connection can be one of the most valuable parts of the homestay experience.
Both USH and HomestayMatch serve F-1 and J-1 students. Placements are available for short-term stays and extended programs, with a minimum of four weeks.

Yes. If you are a study abroad coordinator or institutional partner sending students to LASC, our group placement team can arrange housing for multiple students. Contact our office to discuss your group's timeline and needs.
Stays begin at a four-week minimum and can be extended as long as your program requires. Many students on semester or full-year programs stay for several months. Flexible extension options are available.
