New York Film Academy (NYFA) is a private film and performing arts college with its Los Angeles campus located in Burbank, California — the media capital of the world, home to Universal Studios, Warner Bros. Entertainment, NBC, Nickelodeon Studios, and The Walt Disney Company. NYFA Los Angeles offers degree programs, certificate programs, and short-term workshops in Filmmaking, Acting for Film, Producing, Cinematography, Screenwriting, Photography, Game Design, and Digital Editing. NYFA is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission and enrolls students from more than 160 countries, with an international student body that represents nearly half of total enrollment.
Universal Student Housing and HomestayMatch place students with verified American host families in residential neighborhoods throughout Burbank and the surrounding San Fernando Valley, close to the NYFA Los Angeles campus. The area includes Burbank, North Hollywood, Toluca Lake, Studio City, and neighboring communities — well-established residential neighborhoods within easy reach of the campus and the major studios that define Burbank's entertainment industry character. Every host home is personally inspected by our staff before placement and must meet our quality standards.
Your homestay includes a private furnished bedroom, meals, and all utilities — everything ready before you arrive. For students arriving from abroad for a short workshop or a full degree program, homestay removes the need to sign a long-term lease, buy furniture, or set up utilities from overseas. Your host family lives locally and can help you orient to Burbank, find transit routes, and settle into daily life in Southern California.
F-1 and M-1 students are welcome. Placements are available for short-term and extended stays, with a four-week minimum.

No. NYFA does not have dormitories or on-campus housing. Students arrange their own accommodations in Burbank and surrounding neighborhoods. Homestay is a practical option — it includes a furnished private room, meals, and utilities from day one, with no long-term lease required, which suits both short workshop stays and full degree programs.
Yes. If you are a study abroad coordinator or institutional partner sending students to NYFA Los Angeles, our group placement team can arrange housing for multiple students at once. Contact our office to discuss your group's timeline and needs.
