The Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) is an independent, NAAB-accredited architecture school located in the Arts District of Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1972, SCI-Arc offers undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs in architecture and design, including the Bachelor of Architecture, Master of Architecture, and postgraduate programs in Architectural Technologies, Fiction and Entertainment, Design Theory, and Synthetic Landscapes. The school draws students from around the world to its Arts District campus at 960 East 3rd Street.
Universal Student Housing and HomestayMatch place students with verified American host families in residential neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles, within reach of the SCI-Arc campus in the Arts District. The surrounding communities — Silver Lake, Echo Park, Koreatown, Boyle Heights, Chinatown, and neighboring areas — offer culturally dynamic neighborhoods that are well-connected to campus by public transit and bicycle. Every host home is personally inspected by our staff before placement and must meet our quality standards.
Your homestay includes a private furnished bedroom, meals, and all utilities — everything ready before you arrive. For students arriving in Los Angeles for the first time, homestay removes the stress of finding an apartment, signing a lease, and setting up utilities from overseas. Your host family lives locally and can help you navigate the city, find transit routes, and settle into daily life in Los Angeles.
