Homestay Near The Cooper Union — What's Included

Universal Student Housing and HomestayMatch place international students with verified American host families in the New York City metro area. Your host family provides a private furnished room, daily breakfast, and a welcoming home base while you study at Cooper Union. On-campus housing at Cooper Union is limited and not guaranteed — a homestay gives you a confirmed, comfortable place to land from the moment you arrive in New York City.

Every host family in our network is screened and verified before placement. We match you based on your school location, schedule, dietary needs, and personal preferences. Once your placement is confirmed, you receive a Welcome Packet with everything you need to get settled, including local transit routes to help you get to campus. Airport transfer may be available as an add-on service when you apply — contact our office to confirm availability.

Cooper Union students come from many countries and arrive at different points in the academic year. Whether you need housing for a semester or a full year, we offer flexible stays from four weeks with easy extensions as your plans develop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer homestay for Cooper Union students?

Yes. Universal Student Housing and HomestayMatch work with F-1 international students attending The Cooper Union. We can coordinate your housing to align with your semester start date.

Cooper Union doesn't guarantee on-campus housing — what are my options?

On-campus housing at Cooper Union is limited and prioritized for first-year students, with no guarantee even for them. Homestay is one of the most practical alternatives — a confirmed placement with a vetted American family, meals included, no long-term lease required, and a stable foundation while you focus on your studies in one of the most demanding programs in the country.

Do you accommodate study abroad groups or school-arranged placements?

Yes. If your school or program is coordinating housing for a group of students, our office can work directly with your institution. Contact us to discuss group placement options.

How long can I stay?

We require a minimum stay of four weeks. Beyond that, your stay is flexible — you can extend semester by semester as needed.
