New York Language Center (NYLC) is an ESL school with three locations across New York City — Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx. With more than 35 years of experience teaching English as a Second Language, NYLC enrolls F-1 international students and offers flexible programs with rolling Monday start dates. Students come from around the world to study General English, conversation, test preparation, and more in one of the most diverse cities on earth.
Universal Student Housing and HomestayMatch place international students with verified American host families near all three NYLC locations across New York City. Your host family provides a private furnished room, daily breakfast, and a welcoming home base while you study English at NYLC. Living with an American family is one of the most effective ways to improve your English outside the classroom — daily conversation, cultural immersion, and a real New York home life that no apartment or dorm can replicate.
Every host family in our network is screened and verified before placement. We match you based on your school location, schedule, dietary needs, and personal preferences. Once your placement is confirmed, you receive a Welcome Packet with everything you need to get settled, including local transit routes to help you get to your NYLC campus. Airport transfer may be available as an add-on service when you apply — contact our office to confirm availability.
NYLC programs start on a rolling basis throughout the year. We offer flexible stays starting from four weeks, with easy extensions as your English studies continue.
Yes. Universal Student Housing and HomestayMatch work with F-1 international students attending New York Language Center at all three NYC locations — Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx. We can coordinate your housing to align with your program start date.
Your host family speaks English at home every day. Meals, conversations, weekend activities — all of it becomes natural English practice in a low-pressure setting. Most ESL students find their speaking confidence improves significantly faster when they live with a host family compared to living with other international students.

We require a minimum stay of four weeks. Beyond that, your stay is flexible — you can extend week by week as your English program continues.
