The English Language Institute (ELI) at Pace University offers ESL and academic English programs at two New York campuses — a downtown Manhattan location in the Financial District and a traditional university campus in Westchester County, approximately 40 minutes north of New York City by train. The ELI enrolls F-1 international students from more than 40 countries and offers programs in Intensive English, Academic English, Business English, TOEFL preparation, and specialized courses for au pairs and professionals. Students can choose between the energy of NYC campus life and the quieter environment of Pace's Westchester campus in Pleasantville and White Plains.
Universal Student Housing and HomestayMatch place international students with verified American host families near both Pace ELI campuses — in New York City and Westchester County. Your host family provides a private furnished room, daily breakfast, and a welcoming home base while you study English at Pace. Living with an American family is one of the most effective complements to an ESL program — the English practice continues outside the classroom every single day, in real conversations over dinner, on weekends, and throughout daily life.
Every host family in our network is screened and verified before placement. We match you based on your campus location, schedule, dietary needs, and personal preferences. Once your placement is confirmed, you receive a Welcome Packet with everything you need to get settled, including local transit routes to help you get to your Pace ELI campus. Airport transfer may be available as an add-on service when you apply — contact our office to confirm availability.
Pace ELI programs have frequent start dates throughout the year and run from one week to a full academic year. We offer flexible stays starting from four weeks, with easy extensions as your English program continues.
Yes. Universal Student Housing and HomestayMatch work with F-1 international students attending the English Language Institute at Pace University, at both the New York City and Westchester campuses. We can coordinate your housing to align with your program start date.
Absolutely. Your host family speaks English at home every day — meals, conversations, and daily life all become natural English practice outside the classroom. Most students find their speaking confidence improves significantly faster when they live with an American family rather than with other international students.
Yes. If your school or program is coordinating housing for a group of students, our office can work directly with your institution. Contact us to discuss group placement options.
We require a minimum stay of four weeks. Beyond that, your stay is flexible — you can extend as your Pace ELI program continues.
