Los Angeles Mission College (LAMC) is a public community college in Sylmar, in the San Fernando Valley. Part of the Los Angeles Community College District, Mission College welcomes international students from around the world to pursue associate degrees, certificates, and transfer pathways to four-year universities. The college's International Students Program provides dedicated support for F-1 visa students, from I-20 processing and immigration advising to academic counseling and cultural adjustment resources.
Universal Student Housing and HomestayMatch place international students with verified American host families in residential neighborhoods throughout the San Fernando Valley, close to the LAMC campus in Sylmar. Every host home is personally inspected by our staff and meets our quality standards before we place a student there. Your homestay comes fully furnished with a private bedroom, meals, and all utilities included — everything you need from the day you arrive.
There are no long-term lease requirements and no need to buy furniture or set up utilities before you land. Your host family lives nearby, knows the area, and can help you navigate local transit, find your way around campus, and settle into daily life in Los Angeles. For international students who have never lived in the US before, that local support makes a meaningful difference in those first weeks.
Both USH and HomestayMatch are listed on the LAMC International Students Program housing page as approved homestay providers. F-1 and J-1 visa students are welcome. Placements are available for short stays and extended programs, with a minimum of four weeks.

No. Los Angeles Mission College does not offer dormitories or on-campus housing. Students are responsible for arranging their own off-campus accommodations. Homestay is one of the most practical options — it includes a private room, meals, and a furnished space from day one, with no long-term lease required.
Yes. If you are a study abroad coordinator or institutional partner sending students to LAMC, our group placement team can arrange housing for multiple students at once. Contact our office directly to discuss your group's needs and timeline.
Stays begin at a four-week minimum and can extend as long as your program requires. Many students enrolled in semester or full-year programs stay for several months. Flexible extension options are available.
